Outreach Program
The scripture says, "And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."
By serving, you are first of all fullfilling what Jesus has called us to do, and you have the opportunity to give a hug to someone mother, father, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, neighbor and friend. As you serve others and pour your life out for them you are fulfilling Family Life church outreach agenda and advancing the Kingdom.
Through our WomensLife ministry we have partnered with the Providence House "Breaking the Homeless Cycle One Family at a Time" by supplying full course meals and cleaning supplies for residents throughout the year. The program breaks the cycle of homelessness by helping families gain the resources necessary to move permanently to independent living. It's a hand up, rather than a hand out.
Providence House provides short-term transitional housing in combination with an individualized support program including: education programs, child care, parenting, money management, and life skills development. Once families have met the program goals and expectations, they advance to “Project Next Step”, where they transition in to subsidized apartments throughout our community. They continue to receive case management and access to other services through Providence House for up to 2 years. When they graduate the program, the lease is signed over in their name where they continue to live long-term.
Families wishing to receive help must:
-
be homeless
-
have children who are minors
-
be willing and capable to work full time
-
be willing to work a program to become drug and alcohol free if there is evidence of an addiction
-
be legally married (if a two-parent family)
-
be willing to participate in program
For families who both qualify and participate in the program, Providence House is a bridge back to self-sufficiency. Families work with a licensed social worker and a family advocate to learn life skills that help reverse the cycle of homelessness. Family Life Church partnership breaks the power of homelessness!
