QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

WHAT IS SIN? Sin is any act of disobedience against the Word of God.

WHY DOES GOD ALLOW SIN? Sin entered the world because of Adam.

CAN ANY SIN BE FORGIVEN? All sin is forgiven according to I John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

WHAT IS GRACE? Grace is God’s unmerited favor. It is a gift from God. Romans 3:24 – Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; Romans 5:2 – By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

HOW DOES FAITH IN GOD’S GRACE BRING SALVATION? Ephesians 2:8 (New King James Version) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.

WHAT IS THE APPROPRIATE ATTIRE TO WEAR TO FAMILY LIFE CHURCH? You can wear what feels modest, appropriate and comfortable for you at Family Life Church. Modesty in the way we dress is not just for church; it is to be the standard for all Christians at all times. The key to understanding what constitutes modesty in dress is to examine the attitudes and intents of the heart. Those whose hearts are inclined toward God will make every effort to dress modestly, decently, and appropriately. Those whose hearts are inclined toward self will dress in a manner designed to draw attention to themselves with little or no regard for the consequences to themselves or others.

A godly man or woman endeavors to do everything with a “God-ward” perspective. He /she knows that God wants His people to be concerned for His glory and the spiritual state of their brothers and sisters in Christ. If a man or woman professes to be a Christian yet they dresses in a way that will unduly draw attention to their bodies, they are a poor witness of the One who bought their soul by dying for them on the cross. They are forgetting that their bodies have been redeemed by Christ and is now the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). They are telling the world that they determine their own worth on a purely physical basis and that their attractiveness depends on how much of their bodies they reveal to them. Further, by dressing in an immodest fashion, displaying their bodies for other to lust after, they causes their brothers in Christ to sin, something condemned by God (Matthew 5:27–29). At Family Life Church, we don't point fingers, but we encourage Christians to be mindful of their appearance.

HOW DO I MAKE MY COMMITMENT? When making your pledge, you must do several things: Think about what God, through this ministry, has done in your life and the life of those you know. Determine to willingly live up to your responsibility as a Christian to provide for future generations to get the Gospel.

Ask yourself three questions about the pledge that you have in your heart to make:

1. Does this amount express my appreciation to God for what He’s done?

2. Does this pledge and gift really respond to the Kingdom’s needs, or is this a token gift to just say you participated?

3. Is this gift a product of your faith?

Before you make your pledge, set aside a day of prayer and fasting. Fast at least one meal and use this time of prayer to hear from God concerning your giving. Giving is vital to the success of our church and consistency is the key!
